Coach Bill Maresh
for State Representative, 36A (Champlin and part of Coon Rapids)
Longtime Champlin Park Teacher and Wrestling Coach Bill Maresh is seeking your vote for House District 36A. Maresh has taught at Champlin Park for 25 years and has coached the Champlin Park Wrestling Team since 1993.
“I’m running for the House because I know I can put the same passion and dedication I’ve brought to my teaching and coaching career to use for the people of Champlin and Coon Rapids,” Maresh said. “I have deep roots in this area, and my teaching career has given me the chance to interact with thousands of students, parents, and community members—I know the issues they care about, and I’m excited to work hard for them at the Capitol. I will go to Saint Paul and fight for strong schools, good jobs for our kids so they can stick around here in Minnesota after graduation, letting families keep more of their hard-earned dollars, and lowering health care costs.”
Maresh graduated from Blaine High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University. He earned a Master’s from Fort Hays State University and has taught at Champlin Park since 1993. He lives in Champlin with his wife, Julie. They have four children.
I am surprised by how much support I am getting from both Democrats and Republicans. While they may not always know my name, they recognize my face as the wrestling coach from Champlin Park High School.
Because I've been a part of the community for so long, people know that I'm not going anywhere. They also know, I am not building a political career. That is just not me, but I am doing this to represent the people of Coon Rapids and Champlin.
Check my News/Events feed for where I will be next. Please feel free to contact me and let me know your thoughts. A couple things about me, I balance my check book every week, I repair my own cars, and I am a straight shooter. I'm not going to mince words, but tell you just what I am thinking.
Are you looking for a candidate who can represent issues important to you?
I have taught tens of thousands of students over my 25 years at Champlin Park High School. As a teacher, I have a unique vantage point to our community. I've seen kids and families who have needed help, along with those families who share their abundance. The emotional and physical health of our students in school represent the health of our families and community.
Many of those students I've taught now have children of their own. In some cases, I've taught those children as well. Those who know me, also know that I am approachable. I believe in building relationships with those I represent.
Would you like to support my campaign, but are limited on resources or don't have the time?
We are part of a state program that will reimburse political contributions up to $50 per person. It is a simple and easy way for you to support our efforts without taking money out of your monthly budget. Most people are reimbursed within 2-3 weeks.
